Burwell & Sasser
Book writer and lyricist, occasional tunesmith, I'm half of Burwell & Sasser. We write musicals. Our shows include Le Comte Noir, CUBAMOR, Bottle Shock! and a few others. Our site has a lot more about us there.

We were 2019 finalists for the Jonathon Larson award, and our shows have been official festival selections for the National Alliance of Musical Theatre, Silicon Valley TheatreWorks New Works festival, and Village Theatre's Beta Series. We were artists in residence at Ars Nova as part of Uncharted Artists, and our songs have been heard at Lincoln Center, 54 Below at Studio 54, Joe’s Pub at the Public Theater in New York, A Little New Music in L.A., Feinstein’s at the Nikko in San Francisco, and other venues on both coasts.

Our work is currently featured on our very own Burwell & Sasser Broadway on Demand artist's channel.
Member of the Dramatist's Guild. Press packets available on request.
Musicals I've written for include:

Forsyth County is my award-winning pilot* about two Afghanistan war veterans from different backgrounds struggling to re-integrate back home while shifts in the social and economic landscape of the new South affect them and their families in ways neither could anticipate. In other words, it's about race, identity, home, trauma, addiction, violence, guns, and the South.

Six recent awards/industry recognitions including Quarterfinalist placement for the Los Angeles International Screenplay awards, and the WeScreenplay TV Contest, and as a Semi-finalist for Filmatic TV Pilot Awards;  it also just made it into the Semi-Finals of Outstanding Screenplays UK.

I have a few other pilots in the works, mostly of a dramatic or historical nature, about Lord Byron in Greece, Vikings in Byzantium, and aliens. Not all in the same story, but now that you mention it... Inquiries welcome.

Currently looking for lit representation. In all senses of that phrase.
